Ex-CFLer arrested in connection with murder of girlfriend (TSN.ca)
Former CFL player James Edward Curry has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend, Jennifer Flores last Friday, according to a report in the Fresno Bee.

More baseball clubs joining spending spree (USA Today)
Esteemed columnist Hal Bodley reports that seven of the 30 MLB member clubs have payrolls exceeding $100 million, up two from last season. He reports that the average player salary has risen to $2.9 million, a jump from $1.6 million during the last ten years.

Coaching legend Eddie Robinson dies at 88 (Yahoo! Sports)
Former Grambling State University coach Eddie Robinson, who sent more than 200 players to the NFL and won 408 games, died after battling Alzheimer’s disease. He was 88.
