Odalis Perez has something to show you

We can’t even describe this pitch. So in this case, a picture is truly worth 1000 words.

***UPDATED at 9:27 EDT***

From the publisher: The folks at MLB have apparently pulled the video of this mystifying pitch.  To sum it up, it was a knuckleball-like pitch that darted a quick 90 mph.  Zero. Zip. Zilch. No rotation on the ball.

Johan Santana cuts off contract talks with Twins

11 04 2007

Here today… (SI.com)

Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.com reports that the agent for Minnesota Twins ace Johan Santana has told the club they will not negotiate with them till he hits the open market in 2008.

The Twins, according to Heyman, offered to add two years to the deal, at around $18 million per season, plus a club option for 2011.  That offer fell short of what Barry Zito earned from the San Francisco Giants this past offseason (seven years, $126 million).

Ex-Astros reliever Lidge ‘upset’ he’s in middle relief (ESPN News Services)

Former Houston Astros closer Brad Lidge isn’t too happy at his reduced role in the team’s bullpen, according to an article in The Houston Chronicle.

“I’m definitely upset about losing my role after throwing in two games, after throwing in one save situation,” Lidge told The Houston Chronicle. “Garner made the decision, and I will of course stand by it. He’s my manager, and I’ll do whatever he wants me to do. But that being said, I’m pretty ticked off about it. I guess the only thing I can do is use it as motivation.”

Cardinals team physician upbeat about Carpenter (stlcardinals.com)

St. Louis Cardinals team physician Dr. George Paletta is optimistic about ace Chris Carpenter’s ability to bounce back while only missing a minimal amount of time.  Carpenter has been prescribed rest and been injected with a fluid in his elbow to help increase mobility of the joint.  They also drained his elbow of fluid yesterday.

We don’t know about you, but if you add all those up, it’s going to be awhile.
