On a cold, dreary day in Fenway Park, what’s worse than losing an expensive beer on a J.D. Drew foul ball (or going for a J.D. Drew foul ball for that matter)?

Getting a slice of pizza tossed at you for no apparent reason, but at least NESN broadcaster Jerry Remy had a good time with it.

BlueJays’ Glaus to DL; Ryan likely out six weeks (ESPN.com)

Buster Olney of ESPN.com is reporting that the Toronto BlueJays have placed shortstop Troy Glaus on the DL with a sore heel.  Also, Olney reports that closer B.J. Ryan, who was DL’ed yesterday, will likely be out for six weeks with a ligament strain in his elbow.

French lab to test cyclist Landis’ “b” sample

The “famed” French anti-doping laboratory has begun analyzing cyclist Floyd Landis’ “B” sample.  The tests were requested by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

A definitive answer should be reached within 10 days.

The Toronto BlueJays’ outfielder Reed Johnson has elected to undergo surgery for a herniated disk in his lower back, the Associated Press is reporting.

Johnson was placed on the disabled list Friday with the ailment and the team is eyeing a July return.

Columbus Crew close to signing Argentine soccer hero (SI.com/AP)

The Columbus Crew of MLS is close to inking Argentine soccer hero Barros Schelotto to a deal, Argentina’s La Nacion newspaper is reporting.

The 33-year-old Barros Schelotto is one of Boca’s most idolized players, revered for his playmaking ability and dribbling skill.

The Columbus Crew and MLS are set to announce the signing on Tuesday, the AP reports.

Not for all you fantasy players — Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Vladimir Guerrero was struck by a pitch on his right wrist by Josh Beckett of the Boston Red Sox today, the Associated Press is reporting.

Guerrero left the game.
