Two more co-defendants schedule hearings to enter plea agreements
13 08 2007According to a broadcast report on ESPN’s SportsCenter, the two remaining co-defendants in the Michael Vick dogfighting case (Quanis Phillips and Purnell Peace) have filed paperwork to schedule hearing to enter plea agreements in the case.
The charges stem from their operation called “Bad Newz Kennels”, which sponsored a dogfighting ring so grisly the losers either died in the pit or sometimes were electrocuted, drowned, hanged or shot at the Surry County, Virginia-owned property of Vick.
More as this story develops later this evening…
***UPDATED at 11:38 PM ET***
As promised, an update: it appears that not only are his alleged co-defendants assumed to be making plea deals, but Vick himself might be working on a deal, too. The Feds have given the legally troubled quarterback until Friday to decide if he wants to accept a plea agreement, too. Should he take a pass on that, the government will likely levy additional charges against Vick.
