Sources: Vick, attorneys consider plea deal (CNN)

Federal prosecutors have offered a plea deal recommending an 18- to 36-month prison sentence for suspended NFL quarterback Michael Vick for his alleged role in a dogfighting operation, but Vick’s attorneys are trying to reduce that to less than a year, two sources told CNN.

The attorneys for the troubled quarterback are waiting to hear back from NFL commish Roger Goodell on the player’s career options before cutting any deal with the Feds.

Meanwhile, a grand jury is scheduled to meet Monday to weigh adding additional charges.

***UPDATED at 2:56 PM ET***

It’s official: Michael Vick has plead guilty to dogfighting charges in a plea agreement with the Feds.

“Mr. Vick has agreed to enter a plea of guilty to those charges and to accept full responsibility for his actions and the mistakes he has made. Michael wishes to apologize again to everyone who has been hurt by this matter,” said Vick’s attorney Billy Martin in a statement.

Broncos deal Warren to Raiders

20 08 2007

Broncos trade Warren to Raiders (ESPN)

Len Pasquarelli reports that the Denver Broncos have dealt defensive tackle Gerard Warren to the Oakland Raiders for an undisclosed draft choice.

The trade came after the Broncos held Warren out of both their preseason games while they shopped him around the league. It was believed that, if Denver failed to find a viable trade partner by early this week, they would release the six-year veteran tackle. Washington was among the teams that would have been interested in Warren as a free agent.

Warren was the third overall selection in the 2001 NFL draft by Cleveland and dealt to Denver in 2005.  At least the trade signifies that the Raiders front office isn’t completely asleep at the wheel, as shown by the JaMarcus Russell negotiations.
