Josh Beckett became the first in the majors to collect his 16th “W”; Milton Bradley and Adrian Gonazalez of San Diego team up for four dingers and nine RBI; KC’s Zach Greinke returns to the rotation, gaining a win and Arizona pitcher Micah Owings goes deep again — his third home run in his last fifth at-bats..

Red Sox 11, White Sox 3 (Game 1) — Josh Beckett scattered seven hits and three runs in 5 2/3 innings and survived a shaky first when he walked three batters, as the Red Sox won the opener of a day-night doubleheader against the White Sox with an 11-3 victory.

Red Sox  10, White Sox 1 (Game 2) — Boston’s David Ortiz homered twice and Kevin Youkilis added a three-run shot as the Red Sox routed the Chicago White Sox 10-1 to take both ends of a split-doubleheader.

Twins 7, O’s 4 –  Minnesota trailed 4-0 in the seventh inning before coming back to hand Baltimore its fourth straight loss. Outfielder/DH Josh Kubel fueled the charge with a two-run homer in the seventh and a game-tying sacrifice fly in the eighth as the Twins rallied to take the contest 7-4.

M’s 4, Rangers 2 — Felix Hernandez allowed three hits and struck out seven in six innings to improve to 4-0 over his last six starts as the Seattle Mariners downed the Texas Rangers 4-2 to help “King Felix” his tenth.

Indians 1, Royals 2 — Zack Greinke and five Kansas City relievers combined on a six-hitter and the Royals beat the Cleveland Indians and C.C. Sabathia 2-1.

Son of Eagles coach jailed for violating bail in January offense (AP/ESPN) Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid’s son was jailed Friday for violating his bail after police said they found 33 pills, including the painkiller hydrocodone, on him.

Braves cut Wickman (AP/SI.com) A day after Atlanta’s Bob Wickman surrendered a game-winning two-run home run to the Reds’ Adam Dunn, the club designated him for assignment Friday.

Penguins, Sabres to play outdoors (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review) The two clubs are set to face off at Buffalo, NY’s Ralph Wilson Stadium on Jan. 1, 2008.

Yankees denounce caps linked to gang symbols (AP/ESPN) As we noted yesterday, the New Era-designed New York Yankee caps that had colors and icons similar to that of gangs were denounced by the Yankees organization and were pulled from the market late Friday by the athletic apparel maker.
