Doctors: Bills’ Everett will ‘walk within weeks’

Bills’ Everett will attempt to stand (AP/SI.com)

More good news on injured Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett: doctors claim he’ll be walking in the next few weeks.

Doctors told the Associated Press that they’ll attempt to stand him up in short time in hopes of triggering his rehabilitation and stimulating his leg muscles.

“Soon, in Buffalo or in Houston, they’re going to stand him up,” Dr. Barth Green told The Associated Press, shortly after discussing Everett’s condition with Bills orthopedic surgeon Dr. Andrew Cappuccino. “They’re very confident he’ll be walking very soon … in the next days or weeks, not months.”

Quite the turnaround after Everett was admitted paralyzed after suffering a spinal cord injury on a play during a September 9th contest against the New York Jets.

Lawson out for season with torn ACL (The Press Democrat)

Outside middle linebacker Manny Lawson of the San Francisco 49ers was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the remainder of the 2007 season, The Press Democrat is reporting.

Lawson went down with about 30 minutes remaining in practice yesterday. He got up under his own power and spent the rest of the practice riding a stationary bike.

Lawson was the club’s first round draft choice — 22nd overall — in 2006 out of North Carolina State.

As Niners fans, this sucks.

Landis banned two years for dopin in ‘06 Tour (AP/ESPN)

Cyclist Floyd Landis was given a two-year timeout for using a synthetic hormone during his Tour de France win in 2006.

The decision leaves Landis with only one avenue to take: an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (whatever the hell that is).

The ruling also means the 2006 Tour winner must forfeit his title and a retroactive suspension from January 30, 2007 onward.
