Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban appeared on ESPN’s coverage of his team’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday to dispel rumors that he was interested in acquiring disgruntled LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

Reds pick up options on Dunn, Hatteberg

Reds bring Dunn back for another season (Cincinnati Enquirer)

The Reds kept slugger Adam Dunn off the free agent market Wednesday, picking up the outfielder’s $13 million option for the 2008 season.

In addition to Dunn, the Reds also picked up 2008 options on first baseman Scott Hatteberg and catcher Javier Valentin. The club, however, declined the 2008 option on reliever Eddie Guardado.

Odom suffers concussion in crash

Report: Lakers’ Odom suffers concussion in crash (ESPN News Services)

Lamar Odom, the Los Angeles Lakers forward who is recovering from shoulder surgery, suffered a concussion while driving his car on the way to a pre-game shootaround Tuesday.

Odom’s Mercedes-Benz was totaled, the paper reported. The woman driving the other car in the accident had to be taken out by the jaws of life.

Cameron suspended 25 games for positive stimulant test (AP/USA Today)

Mike Cameron, the soon-to-be free agent outfielder of the San Diego Padres, has tested positive for a banned stimulant, according to the Officer of the Commissioner.

Cameron claims he took a tainted supplement while training.

There’s nothing unusual with an older man dating a younger woman. In fact, Matthew McConaughy’s character in “Dazed & Confused” arguably said it best (paraphrasing):  “That’s what I love about these college aged girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.”

Lance Armstrong seems to be living by this credo lately as he’s been seen at a New York City bar hanging with former “Full House” star Ashley Olsen.

Torre, Dodgers closing in on deal

Little resigns; Torre, Dodgers close (LA Times)

While varying Internet sources are reporting a duration of three years valued in the neighborhood of $4 million per annum, Dylan Hernandez of The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Joe Torre and the ballclub are closing in on a deal that will result in Torre taking the reins from Grady Little, who resigned his post earlier Tuesday.

According to Hernandez, all that remains is coaching and input on personnel decisions.

Dodgers, Little officially part ways

Per a broadcast report on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Tim Kurkjian states that Grady Little and the Dodgers have mutually parted ways.

The source tells Kurkjian that Joe Torre will take over once they work out contractual terms.

Buried within this updated ESPN.com article is Tim Kurkjian’s contribution to the story.

A source told ESPN The Magazine’s Tim Kurkjian on Tuesday that Little and the Dodgers will in fact simply part ways, that the manager wasn’t completely happy with his situation. The source also says that Torre will then be named the next Dodgers manager.

Grady Little resigned from his position as manager of the Dodgers, likely clearing the way for Joe Torre to take the reins.

Sources: Tocchet to sit down with Bettman, discuss gambling (ESPN.com)

ESPN.com hockey scribe Scott Burnside reports that former Phoenix Coyotes assistant Rick Tocchet will sit down to meet with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman this week.

Per Burnside, the meeting is expected to bring to a close a long, troubling chapter for the league. Still, depending on the tone and tenor of the discussion, a decision on Tocchet’s ability to return to the NHL may not be forthcoming until next week.
