Does cycling ever have any good news to report?

Floyd Landis, the digraced Tour de France champion due to alleged blood doping, has filed an appeal in his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Just last month, an arbitration panel ruled the results of a test that showed the American cyclist used synthetic testosterone to fuel his spectacular comeback Tour victory.  That decision left the cyclist with a two-year ban.

The No.1 selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft is going to miss some game action as St. Louis Blues defenseman Erik Johnson has been diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his foot.

Head coach Andy Murray say the injury is day-to-day.

Testaverde returns!

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Carolina Panthers have signed 43-year old NFL veteran Vinny Testaverde to back-up starter David Carr.

If Testaverde passes his physical, he is expected to practice with the team Wednesday.

ESPN awarded some Masters coverage

According to a broadcast report on ESPN’s First Take, “The Worldwide Teaser” will be the exclusive home for the first two rounds of The Masters.

Masters president Billy Payne made the announcement on Wednesday.

Mike Tirico, the multi-talented broadcaster, will handle the lead broadcast chores.
