La Russa’s drunken driving hearing postponed (STL Today)
Tony La Russa news that we weren’t waiting for: the drunken driving hearing that was scheduled for Monday has been postponed till Dec. 3.
He was arrested March 22 and charged with drunken driving after police said they found him asleep inside his running sport utility vehicle at a stop light near the Cardinals’ spring training facility in Jupiter.

UNL AD Steve Pederson fired (KETV.com)
An Omaha, Nebraska television station is reporting that the University of Nebraska has fired athletic director Steve Pederson on Monday.
“We are of course disappointed about the progress in our football program. Steve has done many positive things for Husker athletics during his tenure but I think only new leadership can objectively assess the state of our program and make decisions necessary to move us forward,” Chancellor Harvey Perlman said.
We think that head coach Bill Callahan should start prepping his resume soon.

Cards ink Piñeiro to two-year pact (FOX Sports)
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the St. Louis Cardinals have re-signed another one of their impending free agents, inking starter Joel Piñeiro to a two-year deal.
Per Rosenthal, the value of the contract is $13 million over the course of the contract.
In seven major-league seasons, Pineiro has a record of 65-60, winning a career-best 16 games for the Mariners in 2003.

Wie’s agent quits are less than a year on job (AP/ESPN)
The agent for Michelle Wie decided to quit abruptly, ending his one-year association with the golfing “sensation.”
Greg Nared, a former Nike business manager whom the William Morris agency brought on a year ago to manage Wie and oversee the budding golfer’s career, resigned his position at the agency. The decision comes the day following Wie finished second to last at the Samsung World Championship, placing 19th out of 20.

‘Excited’ Pereiro to get Landis’ lost yellow jersey (AP/ESPN)
In the wake of Floyd Landis’ appeals ruling, the Tour de France title needed to find a new home.
It will now have a new home as the Tour’s de-rector, Christian Prudhomme, will hand over the jersey — and the title — to Spanish cyclist Oscar Pereiro in a ceremony at Spain’s Sports Ministry Monday.

Raiders 14, Chargers 28 — Ladies and gentleman: LT is back! LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 198 yards on 24 carries, scoring four touchdowns in the 28-14 win over in-state rival Oakland. The Chargers held the Raiders’ league-best rushing attack to just 53 yards in the effort. Oakland’s Daunte Culpepper threw for a serviceable 230 yards, hitting Zach Miller for a 1-yard score and threw 2 interceptions.
Fins 31, Browns 41 – The Browns scored on three of their first four possessions to go up 17-3 and they never looked back, putting up 41 on the visiting Dolphins and evening up their record to 3-3 with the 41-31 win. Braylon Edwards caught five passes from quarterback Derek Anderson — three of which were scores — for 67 yards. Some guy named Cleo Lemon put up 256 yards passing for Miami, netting two touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss.

Amid the rain drops and the cold weather in the Mile High City, the Colorado Rockies continued their red hot run to a World Series appearance with a 4-1 victory over the DiamondBacks to take a commanding 3-0 National League Championship Series lead.
The Rockies have now won 20 of their last 21.
