Rockies 1, Red Sox 13

Perhaps being off for eight consecutive days was an issue after all as the Boston Red Sox clobbered the National League Champion Colorado Rockies 13-1 at Fenway Park.  The win gives the Sox a quick 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven World Series.
Josh Beckett, who entered the game with a career October ERA of 1.78, continued his dominance by striking out the side in the first inning.  By allowing just six hits in seven innings and striking out nine and walking only one, Beckett improved to 4-0 with a 1.20 ERA in the postseason this year.
