Peter Gammons isn’t too happy with Alex Rodriguez’s timing

As we mentioned earlier in The Snooze, the timing of Alex Rodriguez’s decision to opt out of his contract was quite curious (it was in the middle of Game 4 of the World Series when FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal jumped in with the news).
ESPN baseball analyst Peter Gammons agreed with us: why make the decision public during the World Series? He has 10-days after the Fall Classic to opt out of the remaining $91 million due to him.
After discussing the list of suitors for his services, Gammons fired his shot:
“What’s unfortunate here is the total disrespect for the game of baseball. This is the World Series. [Boston’s] Dustin Pedroia and Jon Lester are doing what Alex has never done: playing in a World Series game. And to want the attention on this day is kind of a sad commentary and it might be a bit of a ‘buyer beware,’ because, again, he’s never played in a World Series game…maybe there’s a reason.”
